Elaine Hahn a native of Kansas City, Missouri, holds a BA and MA in Art from the University of Missouri, and has studied with noted artists throughout the United States, England and Mexico. Her early career was influenced by her experience at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. Elaine Hahn is a signature member of the American Watercolor and the National Watercolor Societies. Her paintings have achieved prominence through acceptance and awards in major national juried exhibitions, including the Midwest Watercolor Society and the Virginia Watercolor Society. Her works are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. She has taught and conducted Workshops throughout Virginia for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and other Art Councils in the State. Elaine has been honored at many of the art festivals where she exhibited. Her painting “Reflections” was selected for the Show Poster for the Miami Coconut Grove Arts Festival. This painting has also been selected as Best of Show in the Belgrade Arts Festival in Richmond, Virginia. She has won awards at the Fernandina, Florida Shrimp Festival, the Delray Affair in Delray Beach, Florida and the Frederick, Maryland Festival of the Arts. In 2001, she won Best of Show at the Art in the Park Festival in Plantation, Florida. In 2002 her work was chosen for the Show Poster at the Naples Invitational Arts Festival and she won a Merit Award at the Mainsail Arts Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her work has been published by Rockport Publishers in the Best of Watercolor and the Best of Florals. She was also a featured artist in the Winter 1996 issue of Watercolor Magic Magazine, published by Artist’s Magazine, and in the August 1997 issue of U.S. Art Magazine, Introductions of 29 Artists Worthy of Collector’s Attention. In 1998 her works were included in the publications, Splash 5: Best of Watercolor - The Glory of Color, by North Light Books and The Artistic Touch 3, by Creative Art Press. In 1999 her work was featured in the Southeaster Framer Magazine. In 2000 she was included in the publication Splash 6 - The Magic of Texture, by north Light Books and she is also included in the 2002 Edition of Splash 7 - The Qualities of Light. Elaine’s images have also been selected through her Art Licensing Program by national firms in the manufacture of gift products such as Christmas cards, magnets, notebooks and stationary, gift bags and many other products. Artist Statement “As an artist raised in the Midwest, the natural beauty of the coastal shoreline has always intrigued and amazed me. I particularly liked the early morning and afternoon light, which enhanced the colors, creating unique and interesting reflections and shadows. Through the years I have focused on developing my work and style to capture that beauty. I mainly work with enlarged images with careful planning of the shapes, light and dark patterns, and the colors. I strive to blend the fine nuances of color, texture and shapes to create an image that draws the viewer to a pleasant experience”.
